RALEIGH LEFT IN SHAMBLES, AGAIN
Carolina,
After dealing stud centerman Cory Stillman, the town of Raleigh, normally indifferent towards their ice hockey team, seemed to find issue in the Hurricanes latest deal.
In fact, the town was so upset, that July 3rd will forever go down in infamy as the day Raleigh lost a friend. The streets filled with protestors. Structure fires were abundant and all the while, the Carolina Hurricanes organization, including the players, were forced to evacuate the city for fear of their own lives.
"It was pure mayhem downtown," said captain Shane Doan. "Losing Stilly was going to be rough, but we never figured this would happen."
The normally astute fans of Carolina received word their star was dealt and when the answer of "Who did we get" was finally available, the city screamed a collective "WHO?"
"This town was ablaze for two days," said the mayor of Raleigh, Norman Hoffnixon. "We finally got it cleaned up and then another tragedy befell us. A damn shame I tell you, a damn shame!"
Yes, a week later the fans of Raleigh, who had finally calmed their emotions had received more horrific news.
Commisioner Ryan Long of the Clutch league regrets to inform the loyal fans of the league that play will not resume due to selfish reasons.
"EGAD" cried the fans. "EGAD" they said.
And once again, the friendly city of Raleigh became it's own bonfire of displeasure.
"Kill Kill the Longer, Kill him until he is dead," was echoed throughout the tattered streets of ash and dashed dreams. The fans stormed the streets as though all hope was gone. The future of the CLUTCH was left buried, buried as though it were but a distant cousin who had since expired while surfing off the naturally gifted coastlines of North Carolina.
For today, today being July 10th of 2006, today being a day that will forever be remembered as a day where the Raleigh faithful lost their faith and only a week after they lost their favorite son.
An unfortunate week for a town so full of life previously to two devastating blows.
