Capitals Flatten Flyers

Nik Antropov and Radoslav Suchy tallied three points each to lead the Washington Capitals to a 5-0 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Day 85. The result moves Washington to 18-24-4 for the season.

Suchy started things off for the Caps from Peter Tenkrat and Antropov at 15:58. Todd Warriner made it 2-0 on the power play from Mark Eaton and Jonathan Cheechoo at 17:55.

Washington extended its lead to 3-0 in the second period. Cory Sarich was the scorer from Oleg Saprykin and Suchy at 12:40. The Caps dominated the middle stanza and outshot Philadelphia 20-5.

The Capitals continued to pour it on in the final period. Antropov made it 4-0 from Warriner and Suchy on the power play at 4:03, before Saprykin finished the rout from Severin Blindenbacher and Antropov at 13:04.

JS Giguere stopped all 17 shots he faced to earn the win and improve to 20-13-5. Martin Gerber made 33 saves in the loss.

Washington travels to Phoenix on Day 86.
