Boston disappointed in not signing Rafalski

Boston Bruins management today relayed to a reporter their disappointment in the failure to sign Brian Rafalski.

"We were remiss in not offering a larger salary," GM Joshua Anderson declared, "and in the process, let the Sabres snatch him away. Of course, we have to play it safe due to the lack of funding we have from the prior management team, but we will continue our efforts to collect funding from alternate sources."

The team hoped to add Rafalski to its second-line defensive squad, but will instead focus on alternate sources in an effort to shore up the defense. Boston's defense was pathetic last year, as the team finished at a collective -70 in goal differential, and allowed the second most goals in the Conference - and fifth most overall.

"We know we need to make some offensive improvements," Anderson continued, "but allowing this many goals... it just cannot be allowed to continue. We simply HAVE to play better defensively. If that means someone has to go for defense, then so be it. I'll trade any of these sad sacks for defense. Make sure you print that, too."
