Capitals Add Pair of Draft Picks
The Washington Capitals added a pair of draft picks in a recent trade with the Chicago Blackhawks. One pick is in the fifth round of the 2006 draft, and the other is in the fourth round of the 2008 draft.
The addition of the pick for 2006 gives Washington 11 selections in the draft and four in the fifth round alone. The 2008 pick gives the team six selections and two in the fourth round.
Heading to Chicago are Janis Sprukts and Henrik Petre. Sprukts, 24, is a junior center, while Petre, 27, is a tough defender.
In another deal, the Capitals added $500,000 in exchange for junior defender Brad Woods. Brad is joining the Nashville organization.
More trades may be on the horizon as the club makes its final preparations for the new season.
