CANES AGREE TO TERMS WITH HOLDOUT MICHAEL WOODFORD
Carolina
The Carolina Hurricanes finally got the news they were hoping to hear on Thursday when holdout right winger Michael Woodford was locked to a 4 year deal worth 1.6 million dollars per season.
"We finally got our kid signed," said head coach Joel Quenneville. "I think he will really help boost our secondary scoring and gives us some excellent options up front. I look forward to seeing what he does in practice, it will give me a better idea where to put him."
Woodford declined to comment on the signing but his agent stated that the youngster is excited to finally begin his career.
Speculation has Woodford being added to a line with fellow youngster Tim Brent. With Woodford, the Canes have four excellent right wing options in the explosive Alexei Kovalev, gritty workhorse Darcy Tucker, captain Shane Doan and small pugilistic forward Scott Walker.
The Canes will be off another day before returning to action. It is probably that young Woodford will make his debut then.
