TUCKER NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Carolina
After a brilliant start to his Hurricane career, Darcy Tucker notched 9 points in 4 games and was awarded for his effort with Player of the Week honors.
"This is a great feeling actually," said Tucker. "I was not able to get anything going in Edmonton and I really felt that I never fit in from the get go there. Here, I was sat down by coach Quenneville and he told me that I was here for the duration and that this team needed a spark on the second line."
Tucker was inserted on a line with sophomore Kyle Wellwood and veteran left winger Jeff Friesen. Together, the trio exploded and gave the Canes an incredible boost, going 3-0-1 in the four games played during the week.
"I try and do the little thing right," said Tucker. "If the line needs some one to bang, I will. I try and dig the puck out and feed Friesen. He can bury the puck with the best of them and maybe all he ended was someone to get the puck for him. I can do that."
"It was always difficult to find someone to compliment Friesen's speed," said Quenneville. "Tucker has a knack for getting in people's faces and stirring the pot. As long as he stays composed, he is dangerous out there for us and he and Jeff work extremely well together."
Congrats to Tucker on his weekly honor.
