Rangers GM Blows Fuse - Team Pays

The Rangers were humiliated 6-0 by the Penguins last night. In a game in which the team were only out shot 28 - 26 both Mike Duhnam and Kari Lehtonen were hapless. The defence in front of them was lethargic and made error after error. GM David Burns was heard screaming at the players in the dressing room when his cell phone rang. Burns left the dressing room and returned 10 minutes later.

"Lehtonen, Vaananen. Pack your bags," he barked. "We've made a deal and you'll be suiting up for Tampa next game." The dejected players packed up their bags with stunned looks on their faces and walked out of the room.

When asked what prompted the sudden move GM Burns said "I was having a word with the players in the dressing room about their lack or focus on defence when I got a call from Tampa. They accepted an offer I had made that they had previously rejected. We've got a starting goalie who won a cup and is experienced in Jocelyn Thilbault and an excellent young defenceman in Jonathan Girard that boots our defence and maintains our rebuilding program. It was a deal that was good for both teams and so we pulled the trigger. We'll miss Vaananen and sacrificed super prospect Lehtonen to try and make the playoffs and improve our defence long term as well. We now have a great one two punch in net."
