Defense!
Someone once said the best offense is a good defense. Of course, someone else has said the best defense is a good offense. Either way, the Baby Bruins have been taking measures to improve both, so they hope to prove one of the two anonymous quotables right.
This week, Rick Kozack and Zach Tarkir are absent from the Providence games as both are in defensive camp.
Kozack, a twenty-one year old Canadian right winger, is a fairly solid offensive force, fairly well ranked in scoring, passing, skating and puck control. But when he is on the ice, he is a defensive liability. Bruins management expects him to be capable of showing up in the pros in a year or two and developing into the player they hope they drafted - and if not, becoming tradable - by enrolling him in defensive camp.
Tarkir, on the other hand, the team hopes to develop into a sixth man. Sending him to defensive camp is an effort to improve him so he no longer sucks. Defense is already one of his more bankable qualities, but can be improved.
Both men will remain in camps next week.
