Erat Sabotaged?
The New York Rangers snapped two impressive streaks in one day and started one of their own but the buzz around the league was of suspicious circumstances of an injury to Martin Erat.
Gone are the 16 game unbeaten streak of the Carolina Hurricanes, the 7 game winning streak of the Boston Bruins, and winger Martin Erat...at the hands of his own team mate.
During an exciting win over the Hurricanes, Martin Erat collided with team mate Tomas Kloucek in the 18th minute of the first period. Erat had been traded to the Blues and was playing out his last game of the season for the Rangers.
Kloucek was heading up ice when he turned suddenly and crashed into Erat. Kloucek appeared simply be looking the other way but GM David Burns was heard overheard on mIRC bragging about how he had fixed Erat's equipment and would send Kloucek to take him out. The Blues and Rangers were in a tie in the standings and the injury to Erat puts the Blues down a man for a week or two. A slow motion replay of the incident shows Kloucek glance at Erat and then veer into him while in the back ground the coach jumps with glee upon impact.
The Rangers won their next game over the Bruins and the Blues lost without Erat.
The league may investigate.
