CANES SNIPERS HEAD TO SCHOOL

Carolina

After a poor outing by Anthony Stewart at a camp designed to inspire young hitters, the 20 year old has now gone off to learn to shoot the puck better. Stewart, a natural right winger, has had a poor season thus far by all standards. The enigmatic forward has demonstrated the physical attributes to succeed, but his lack of commitment has been glaring.

"We need this kid to start to show us something," said head coach Craig Hartsburgh. "We is the strongest kid we have and he is simply dominant down low, when he tries, but that lack of effort is really making me and my staff very displeased."

Stewart was a former member of the gold medal winning Team Canada Junior squad in 2005 and had shown flashes of brilliance there. On a line with fellow Canes Mike Richards and Nigel Dawes (all three pictured to the left), the trio combined to put a lot of opposing countries to shame.

"We need that kid here," said Hartsburgh. "I think this is his time to show us something. If not, I worry about his future in this organization."

Also up for camp is Jeff Tambellini, former team Canada Junior and former Michigan Wolverine alumni. The swift skating Tambellini has been one of the better forwards for the junior Canes this season and will likely have a good camp.

"Jeff has been able to provide a lot of secondary scoring for this team. He has the wheels, he has the talent. I think time will tell, but I think he is a keeper."

The talented left winger currently sits with 7 goals and 7 assists for a total of 14 points in 22 games. The 21 year old looks to improve on this total upon his return.

"I'm hoping that this camp helps me out," said Jeff. "It has helped a lot of players in the past and I'm hoping my name can be added to the list of greats who have attended."

Camp concludes this Friday.
