Baby Bruins left for dead by Coyote Pups
Riding high on a one game win streak, Providence welcomed in the Junior Phoenix team looking to make it two in a row. They were little more than kibble for the Phoenix Prospects.
The hosts jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as Jiri Jakes and Rick Kozack scored in the first period. Paul Gaustad, Jordan Sigalet, Martin Samuelsson, and Zach Tarkir each notched an assist point on the goals.
From there, though, it went down hill for the home team. After Jiri Jakes was called for goalie interference, negating a second goal for him, Anton Babchuk scored on the power play for the visitors to narrow the margin to 2-1.
Scott Polaski postered Jordan Sigalet in the first minute of the second period, at 00:29, to tie the game up. After a controversial charging call on Colton Orr, Providence was left scrambling for their footing, which was the cause of Mikey Lambert's game winning goal at 07:30.
Milan Jurcina was called for two more penalties, and Andreas Lindstrom for one, as the game wound down. There would be no additional scoring, just occassional ice-scuffles.
Jordan Sigalet fell to 11-28-1 on the year behind 23 of 26 saves. PhoenixJr players swept the game stars, bringing out boos from the capacity crowd of 10,000.
