Bruins stick Pussies - with loss.

The Florida Panthers, like all good pussy, rolled over and took the quick pounding when Boston came to town. Thankfully, the excitement was over quickly and the rest of the time was spent rustling around, trying to clean up and get out of town quickly. A typical day on the road for GM Joshua Anderson, basically.

Still reeling from the loss of Sean Brown and Andy Hilbert, the Bruins came in with a meager line-up, bolstered by the return of Andrew Raycroft.

Unlikely hero Zdenek Kutlak stepped up right off the bat, scoring his second goal of the season at 07:39 of the first period. The Bruins also managed to rack up twenty-four minutes of penalties in the period, yet killed all power play opportunities for the Kitty-Kats, including 3:55 of five-on-three. The defense held strong, as the Panthers took only thirteen shots in the period, compared to the Bruins ten.

Valeri Bure, who is noted as dirty player even if he is married to Candace Cameron, struck in the second period, laying out Tim Connolly with an ugly cross-check in the second period. The Bruins power play steped up and just over one minute later, Martin Havlat beat Roberto Luongo like a rented mule for his fifteenth of the season.

The third period was pure thuggery as the depleted Bruins - who entered the game shortstaffed, then lost Matt Walker early in the going - resorted to jamming the Panthers. Once again, the Panthers got off more shots than the Bruins - eleven to nine - but Andrew Raycroft stood tall in net, keeping each one from getting by him.

At the final whistle, Andrew Raycroft had his third shutout of the year, and the Bruins were able to limp home to lick their own wounds this time. The Bruins swept the game stars, going Raycroft, Havlat, and Kutlak, in order, as Raycroft improved to 17-14-3 on the season.
