Junior Capitals Tie Thrashers

The Washington Junior Capitals got a goal and an assist from Lance Moynch to earn a 3-3 tie with the Atlanta Junior Thrashers on Day 97. The point moves Washington to 21-24-4 for the season.

Washington took the lead in the first period when Sean Bergenheim scored his ninth of the season from Moynch at 13:37. The Capitals did a good job killing penalties over the opening 20 minuntes, keeping Atlanta off the board on four power play chances.

The second period started with a bang as Branko Radivojevic fought Atlanta's Janssen to a draw at 1:13. Just over a minute later, the Caps extended the lead to two goals as Sean Kotary scored from Igor Shadulov and Jakub Cutta. The fans were on their feet again a little over four minutes later when Radivojevic dropped the gloves again. This time the fight was with Foster and the result was a draw. The Thrashers picked up some momentum after the fisticuffs, and Aquino scored at 7:53 to make it 2-1. At the 15:19 mark, Atlanta's Stepp netted his fifth goal of the season from Dawson and Janssen to make it 2-2 going to the second intermission.

Washington took advantage of an early power place chance to regain the lead in the final period. Moynch was the scorer from Patrick O'Sullivan and Matt Maglione. The goal, Moynch's 15th of the season, came at 2:37. The Thrashers fought back to tie the game late in the action on Janssen's first goal of the season. Blatny and Self assisted on the goal.

Daniel Taylor made 22 saves for the Capitals, while David Tremblay stopped 25 shots for Atlanta.

The Junior Capitals return to action on Day 98 against the New York Junior Rangers.
