Turek takes the battle of the Romans!

The Ottawa Senators extended their winning streak to 3 games with a win over the Wild last night. The Senators were outshot 34-27 but managed to score the extra goal in the 3rd period to steal one from Minnesota.

The first period was scoreless with the most notable performance coming from veteran goaltender, Roman Turek, as he stopped a number of shots to keep the Sens in the game going into the intermission.

The second period saw the Senators strike first as Teemu Selanne notched his 16th of the year assisted by young defenceman Filip Novak and Petr Sejna. The Wild came back quickly, scoring two goals in less than 2 minutes only 40 seconds after Selanne's goal to take the 2-1 lead. However, Alexei Zhitnik tied the game on a powerful shot from the point with just over one minute remaining in the 2nd to tie it up going into the intermission.

The third period was fairly tight until Wild scoring leader, and by far most skilled player, Vinny Lecavalier, took a blatant goalie interference penalty to give Ottawa the Powerplay. Nedved then zipped one past Roman Cechmanek unassisted to give the Senators the lead; they would never look back.

The Sens enjoy a night off to rest before facing the Panthers in their fourth straight home game.
