Sergei Krivokrasov and Jason Smith coming to Edmonton!
It was time for a change of sceneary for Krivokrasov and Florida's Managment were able to strike a deal with Edmonton to acquire Mike Parrish. Kirvokrasov has been under performing this year for the Panthers with just 21 pts in in 49 games. Kirvokrasov will be coupled on a line with Jason Allison and Paul Kariya, If his production doesn't increase stacked up beside that duo it would be very surprising. when asked to comment GM K.Schmuck he said "It was hard to move Parrish but we feel that Kirvokrasov can fill his shoes on the 1st line and with the tight budget this year we really could use the 3 million." Coming with the Cash and Sergei was a 3rd round pick in this years upcoming draft which will help the Junior Oilers rebuild some of their youth after losing some key vetereans off their junior squad to age restricti0ns.
The Oilers also acquired Defensman Jason Smith from the Minnesota Wild in return for a 2nd Round pick in 2010 and Junior Center Grigory Shafigulin of the Junior Oilers. Smith an extremely solid defensman will bring some much needed discipline and leadership to the Oilers defensive line-up. Smith is expected to play on the 2nd line defensive tandem alongside Wallin. The Oilers down fall all year has been caused by the amount of time their defense spend in the box. This will allow the Edmonton coaching staff to shift the bad boys out of the line-up and hopefully it will be key to the Oilers making a playoff run this year. Smith sits at -5 on a struggling Wild squad which is pretty respectable. 2 good moves for the franchise today leave fans awaiting to see the performance of the new faces in Edmonton.
Bad-Boy Ference Released! With the acquistion of Smith it did not take long for the Edmonton managment to announce they would be releasing Brad Ference to make cap room for Smith's 2.1 million contract.
