Junior Capitals Fall to Rangers
Igor Shadulov earned two assists, but it wasn't enough as the Washington Junior Capitals lost to the New York Junior Rangers on Day 111. Washington is now 23-28-6 and four points out of the playoffs.
The Capitals jumped out to an early lead in the first period. Andrew Joudrey scored first from Jakub Cutta and Shadulov at 3:36, but the Rangers answered quickly with a power play goal from Kreps at 5:10. Buturlin and Lacosta assisted on the goal. Washington came back to take the lead on Branko Radivojevic's 10th goal of the season from Cory Uruqhart and Shadulov at 8:18.
New York evened the score very early in the second period on Ferland's goal at 0:26. Petiot and Henning assisted on the goal. Murray then gave the Rangers a 3-2 lead when he scored from Petiot and Redlihs at 8:09. The Caps managed just four shots on goal in the period as New York dominated the play.
Washington battled back in the final period and tied the game midway through the action. Matt Maglione was the scorer from Sean Bergenheim and Ivan Baranka. Unfortunately the Rangers would not be denied on this night and Kreps got the game-winner at 16:23. Marois and Buturlin setup the winning goal.
Brad Topping made 25 saves in the loss for Washington and fell to 12-19-4. Dan Lacosta stopped 23 shots in the win for the Rangers.
