Blues dominate Preds
The Blues game plan was to get rough and physical with the Predators in game 1. The Plan was to take the fight out of them before they ever got started and it worked very well. Orpick and Vananen got placed on the top line and in the first 4 minutes both where in the box, but the damage had been done and the Predators seemed to have lost there will to fight. The Predators began taking bad penalties of there own and the Blues got 2 consecutive P and while they were unable to score on the Predators they did tilt the ice. Then at the 17:34 mark Richards scored his 6th of the season. A late period goal by the Predators Scott Hartnell seem to take the momentum back going into the dressing room after the 1st period.
However in the 2nd the Blues came out flying and the Predators where not ready. The Blues scored only 8 secounds when Handzus scored his 3rd then at 1:48 Hamhuis scored his 2nd on the PP to put the Blues up 3-1. Vananen then scored his 1st of the playoffs also on the PP to put the Blues up 4-1. Modano then scored at the 16:02 point of the period and the Blues would head to the dressing room up 4-2.
Going into the 3rd it was more of the same physical play and a hard body check put Predators leading scorer Chris Pronger out of the game when he hit his head on the ice. He left the ice with help from teamates and training staff with an obvious concousion and is not expected in tommorrows game. The Blues then scored 2 more goals to put this game to bed. An unfortunate incident late in the third saw Jan Hrdina get a crosscheck to the upper back and is not expected back for at least 3 games. The player who hit him Filip Kuba was tossed from the game and the league was quick to hand down a 3 game suspension to him.
