Miracle in New York as Ranger Jrs Make Playoffs!
The fact that the New York Rangers Junior team has made the playoffs and currently sits with a .544 winning percentage is proof that miracles do happen. The Rangers had one of the strangest and streakiest seasons in history. They bounced in and out of the playoff picture all year by going on huge losing streaks and then rebounding with huge win streaks. Rangers GM David Burns (still in jail pending a trial) dealt three of the youngest and most promising players on the team in a deal for Mats Sundin about two weeks ago and, rather than throw in the towel, the Junior team has had an explosive resurgence.
The team ripped off 10 wins and a tie against only 3 losses in its last 14 games and locked up a playoff spot. Increidible when one looks a the performance of the team:
Goals for: 223
Goals against: 232
Top Scorers:
TEAM GP G A P +/-

*Brady Murray NYR 71 25 33 58 -13
*David Bararuk NYR 78 19 32 51 5
Number of players with a minus rating: 10
Number of players with a plus rating: 11
No offense and poor defence. More goals against than goals for. The only saving grace for the team this year has been the play of Terry Denike net who posted a 2.66 GAA in 64 games with a .905 save percentage.
"We battled all year and never gave up," said an elated Collymore on the eve of their playoff clinching win. "We're happy to be in the playoffs. The adversity we've faced this year can only make us stronger when the heat is on. We're aiming for the championship!"
