Tank ends Blues season

For the 3rd series in a row the Blues took a 3-0 series lead only to let the other team back into the series. First they faced the Hawks and beat them in 7. Then the Predators made it interesting by taking the Blues to 6, and finally the Blues took on the Sharks and lost in game 7. What can the Blues blame for not having that killer instinct when it came to game 7? Could it be that they where just not able to step it up when it came to winning there 4th of the series, and if this is the case who is to blame for there lack of finishing. A look at the earlier games will show that the Blues had relied on Brodeur very heavily and perhaps in the end the Blues netminder was not able to perform in the last game. Maybe it was a lack of dicipline that cost the Blues there season. GM Foley brought in guys like Orpik and Vanannen in order to bring in some toughness and it seems to have helped in the regular season as teams started to realize they couldn't take as many liberties with the Blues more skilled players. However it cost them in the playoffs as the blues went from one of the least penalized teams in the regular season and where one of the most penalized in the playoffs.
Now with the season over the players came today to the Savis center to clean out there locker rooms and while many faces are expected to return next season many of the veteran players may not. Names like Damphouse, Audette, Holik, Kapanen and even Brathewaite will be waying there choices in the offseason and while GM Foley is expected to offer for some of them it is unlikely this team which made it to the Conference finals this season and was tops in the regular season last year in there conference will be returning with a lot of the same personel. When asked about his busy offseason gm Foley had these comment, "It is very likely that the Blues will have a much different lineup in the next season. Right now we are just getting over the big game 7 lose to the Sharks and maybe in a day or 2 we will see where we stand and go out and make some offers to our FA's. Then in the offseason we will look at what we can do and see if we can make a 3rd run. We still have one 1st round pick in the draft and hope that good scouting will give us a winner. As for jr callups we will get together with the Jr coach and see who might be ready to step up this season."
