Capitals Sign New Goaltender
The Washington Capitals announced the signing of goaltender Kevin Weekes recently in a move to shore-up the backup position. Weekes will replace veteran Peter Skudra who performed admirably last season.
Weekes, 31, inked a four-year deal worth $1,500,000 per season. In 27 games last season with St. Louis, Kevin was 7-5-3 with a 2.58 GAA and .902 save percentage. Weekes has solid speed and puck control and a high level of intensity. He should be comfortable playing behind Manny Legace and Washington expects good things from the veteran.
Two seasons ago, Weekes was the starter for the frequently pathetic Atlanta franchise. With little talent or effort in front of him, Kevin went 15-47-7 with a 3.99 GAA and .867 save percentage.
