Kubina welcomed back
(Tampa) - The Lightning were a little disappointed Pavel Kubina wanted to test the market, but like Gm Sprackman told every gm, he would match any offer given to the top player for Tampa. Even after that statement, there was one Gm willing to try and get the hulking Dman out of Tampa. St.Louis Gm wanted to try and offered a big contract to lure Pavel from Tampa, but like he said he would do he matched the offer and Kubina will once again wear the C for the Lghtning. His contract is a bit steeped but with some playing around of players, the team will be fine come season time for the cap.
"I said we would match any offer on him and we did. Pavel's contract is a bit higher then what we would like, but we will survive and get through this. The compensation was a joke for the skills of such a player and would have set this franchise back a long way without the star player in the line up." Gm Sprackman stated today.
What does this all mean, well look for a combo of Lehtonen and LeClaire playing on the farm this season and maybe Williams. We shall see what combo's Gm Sprackman can come up with and still field a great line up. He has also been shopping Satan, Nylander, Schneider and Varlamov but there has only been inquires into the services and some low offers, nothing to entice Gm Sprackman into making a move. Right now he is just happy the team won't have to wait 20 games for the Captain to play for this team.
