Senators First Line Looking Sharp
After a long, long....long season last year the Senators have been spending cash and scrambling to build a playoff worthy squad in this offseason. So far, the team looks to be much improved from last season, namely, the first line.
Last year the first line was led by Center Brendan Morrison who led the team in scoring. This year Morrison is said to be the weakest link on that first line in between stars Teemu Selanne and Alexei Kovalev.
Selanne spent the offseason training and improving. He had a weak showing last year and only bolstered a weak 76 OV rating. Now, the new and improved Teemu has returned to training camp with a load of new skills. Teemu has a new 82 OV rating with an identical scoring rating. He's quicker, stronger and should score more goals in this, the last year of his contract.
Selanne's new skill and fire should compliment nicely the newly signed Alexei Kovalev on the opposite wing. Kovalev was named Franchise player last season and graciously signed a 4 year deal worth 3.2 million. WOW! Kovalev reportedly wanted to play out the rest of his years in Ottawa for some weird, unknown reason...probably a woman!
Thus, the Senators may not be quite a playoff team yet, but, they are definitely looking much better!
