John Grahame returns

The Bruins have announced they have came to terms with backup goaltender John Grahame.

Terms of the three year deal were not released, as with all Boston deals, but sources close to the league offices intimated that it was an offer of $1,400,000 per season put out by the Bruins. A $500,000 signing bonus also allegedly changed hands.

Grahame started ten games for the Bruins last year, with a 4-10-0 including games he spelled Raycroft. He had the tenth highest goals against average of all goalies with more than twenty games played, and fifth highest among goalies with more than thirty games.

Similarly, he was number fifty-six of sixty of goalies with more than twenty games played, and he was forty-third of forty-four goalies with thirty or more games played in save percentage, besting only Michael Garnett of Atlanta.

By comparison, Andrew Raycroft was tenth overall in save percentage, thought thirty-third in goals against, providing additional support once again that the Bruins defense just sucked last year.

"We're excited to have John back next year," GM Joshua Anderson said. "We think that an additional year in our system can only serve to better him and our team. Furthermore, it gives us some leverage with other free agents that maybe we won't just go out and free spend since we already have a compotent backup - so why overpay you?"
