Lightning acquire Denis
(Tampa) - The Lightning shored up its goaltending last night with the acquisition of Marc Denis from the Buffalo Sabres. It was a surprise deal, considering Tampa has youngsters Leclaire and Lehtonen but Gm Sprackman stated that he wanted a goalie to carry the team into the playoffs again.
"If you look at our team, the one area we really needed some help was in net. Lehtonen and Leclaire are the future of the team but right now we think we have a damn fine goalie with Denis and a damn fine defence. If we get some scoring we should do alright this year and not rely on a collapse from another team to get in." Gm Sprackman stated today.
"I am extremely happy to be a Bolt. I know they won the cup 2 seasons ago and I hope I can help them get there once again. I don't have any pressure coming in here, since no one really expects a lot from Tampa but now I can show what I can do and not be a back up like I was in Buffalo." Marc Denis stated.
With the team still a a little pissed at Kubina and his holding out, Gm Sprackman has not entertained any thoughts of trading his big Dman. Instead, he has stated over and over that any offer made would be matched and then the team will sort through its financies. Hopefully some Gm doesnt get any great idea's but this team has seen it before, so a stupid offer is almost something they are waiting for.
The team is now set in net for atleast 10 more seasons and should be once again the strength of the team. Look for more moves as Gm Sprackman continues to tinker with his team.
