"Razor" headed to Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired another solid goaltender to add to a solid young team for the future.

The Flyers picked up goaltender Andrew Raycroft from the Boston Bruins in return for goaltender Antero Niittymaki, defencive defenseman Scott Balan and a future draft pick. "It was a tough decision to make for us moving Niitty, but we now have one of the best if not the best young goaltending duo in the league.." said Flyers GM.

The 26 year old Ontario native Andrew Raycroft had solid numbers last season as the Bruins number one playing in 72 games finishing with a record of 31-32-5. His goals against average was 3.19, his save percentage was a solid .895 % and 3 shutouts. Raycroft finished the year as one of the top goaltenders in stats to play 70+ games.

Andrew is expected to contend with the current number one goalie Martin Gerber. Playing in his first CLUTCH season, Gerber is hoping to get a quick start in the year and play well when he gets the chance. Raycroft will look to do the same and maybe knock him out of the number one spot when he gets the chance.
