Senators Looking to Move D

The Ottawa Senators are in desperate need of a forward or two. The team announced Sunday that after their Free Agent acquisitions of Fran Kaberle and Hal Gill, their D is deeper than they fell necessary and thus, it's time to beef up the top 3 lines if they hope to move toward a playoff spot this season.

Most critics feel that Alexei Zhitnik would be the first to go. He is a veteran Dman who had a good year last year for the Senators and they feel this could add some value to him on the trade market. Also, there are a number of teams looking for that final 2nd or 3rd line Dman to complete their defensive puzzle, Zhitnik could be that guy.

However, Zhitnik has a whopping contract. When asked to comment GM Schmucky said he would definitely add either cash to the deal for Zhitnik or even possibly restructure Zhitnik's deal prior to moving him out if the offer was right.

The Senators are taking offers on the star Dman and would love to hear from any GM's who are looking to maybe move some forwards or picks for some insurance on the Blueline.
