Junior Capitals Top Toronto
Two days after dropping a 1-0 decision in the season opener, the Washington Junior Capitals earned its own 1-0 victory against the Toronto Junior Maple Leafs. The win moved the club to 1-1.
Fabien Laniel scored the only goal of the game with just one second remaining in the opening period. Greg Mauldin and Brett Carson assisted on the tally.
Washington carried the play over the final 40 minutes, outshooting Toronto 19-12, but neither team managed to score.
In a round of fisticuffs to highlight the final period, Fabien Laniel and Vaclav Zavoral fought to a draw.
Brad Topping stopped all 23 shots he faced to earn the win. Dimitri Patzold made 23 saves in the loss.
