Columbus trades Roest to Carolina for draft picks, cash considerations

Columbus, OH

Columbus Blue Jackets President and General Manager Peter Dell'Olio announced today that the team has traded forward Stacy Roest to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for two 3rd round draft choices and an undisclosed amount of cash. Roest, a solid playmaking wing, with speed to burn, was surprised by the move. " The team is changing, for the future, but im still surprised by it. Even if you know it could happen, you just cant prepare for a trade." The Blue Jackets recently signed veteran forwards Gary Valk and Espen Knutsen, whom had both been playing on semi pro contracts in the American Hockey League. Valk, is a long time veteran with excellent defensive ability, and Knutsen is a former Blue Jacket, who brings a veteran offensive presence.

The Jackets have also announced that Matt Cooke has asked for and will be granted a trade. The team would not comment further on the matter.
