CANES POUND THRASHERS IN LEGACE'S ROAD GAME DEBUT

Carolina

It took 28 games, but it seems fan favourite Dany Heatley has found his groove.

The big, skilled right winger has now scored 5 goals and 1 assist in his last three games, on a productive new line with Mike Fisher and newly acquired Tim Connolly.

"It has been a very frustrating season so far but maybe we have made a turn," said Heatley, who now sits at 14 goals and 19 points. "We just could not seem to find that fit and I personally felt a bit lost out there. With Fish and Tim flying around with me, I think we have the stuff to get it done."

Manny Legace turned away 20 of 21 shots and overall seemed to instil a bit of confidence into the Canes squad. Legace comes with a healthy resume of success and so far so good for the little netminder.

Of note, Jeff Friesen has extended his point streak to 5 games with a power play tally 6 minutes into the first period. The goal was also the game winner and has boosted the Canes overall power play to 6th overall in the league.

The Canes take on Legace's former club, the Washington Capitals, tonight in Washington. Look for Legace to get his second consecutive start.
