Flyers Lose in Thriller
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - After coming back from a 3-0 deficit the Flyers came up just short as they lost 4-3 in overtime to the Minnesota Wild.
The Flyers looked to be out of the game after a strong second period by the Wild, scoring 3 goals in 8:03, but just seconds after Minnesota made it 3-0 the Flyers Denis Seidenberg scored two goals in one minute to cut the lead to 3-2. Jamie Lundmark tied the game mid way through the 3rd, but the game was settled on a power play goal by Cory Stillman just 1:25 into the overtime session.
Darcy Tucker made his debut tonight versus the Wild and he made an impact in the game setting up 2 of the teams 3 goals. Darcy finished as the games 3rd star with a +1 rating, having 3 shots and 3 hits in 23 minutes of ice time.
In other news the Flyers have announced they have traded centerman Mike Ricci along with a draft pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets for centerman Roman Lyashenko and a draft pick (pending league approval). The Flyers hope Lyashenko can add some more grit and a solid defensive style to the team down the middle.
Philadelphia’s next game is at the America West Arena in Phoenix, Arizona as the Flyers take on the Phoenix Coyotes. Martin Gerber is expected to make the start in net.
