Gerber shuts down Ducks

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Martin Gerber earned his first career shutout as the Flyers defeat Anaheim 1-0 on Thursday.

Although he wasn’t busy Martin Gerber made the saves when counted on for the Flyers as they only needed to score one for their goaltender. Gerber was awarded the games 2nd star honors as he stopped all 17 shots earning his 6th win of the season.

The Flyers only goal came off the stick of Igor Grigorenko, early in the 3rd period from Jamie Lundmark and Peter Polcik. Grigorenko finished the game with 6 shots, 4 hits and a +1 in 24 minutes of ice time in what seemed to be his best game of the season.

Thursday’s game was a fight filled affair as there were 4 fights. Jay Harrison fell and pulled his groin during his fight with Doug Lynch and is expected to miss up to 3 weeks of action. P.J. Stock also injured his hip in a fight vs. Jani Rita and is only expected to miss one game.

The Flyers next game is on Day 57 versus the Minnesota Wild. New comers Darcy Tucker and Kristian Kurdoc will make their debut. Martin Gerber is expected to start.
