Flyers lose to Bruins

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – The Philadelphia Flyers are unable to win another low scoring game as they lose to the Boston Bruins 2-1 in overtime.

Ex-Flyer Antero Niittymaki had a first star performance and was stellar in hanging on to the win for the Bruins. The Flyers went with Andrew Raycroft for this game and he played well, but once again the team lets the goaltender down as Raycroft stopped 20 shots. Flyers centerman Kyle Wellwood earned the 2nd star of the game honors with his goal to send the game into overtime. Wellwood finished the game even with 5 shots on net and 25 minutes of ice time.

For the second straight game Darcy Tucker was held pointless with over 25 minutes of ice time, he had one hit and 3 shots on goal finishing even in plus/minus. With the Flyers this year Tucker has 4 points in 4 games, 2 goals and 2 assists, he is a +5 has 10 hits 13 shots and averages around 25 minutes per game.

The Flyers have also announced that they have traded left winger Peter Schaefer to the Detroit Red Wings for a 3rd round draft choice and junior goaltender Vasily Koshechkin. This will ensure the Flyers have enough players next year with junior callups and rerates.

The Flyers next game comes tonight as they face the Minnesota Wild in Philadelphia. Ian White will play alongside Denis Seidenberg and Andrew Raycroft will start.
