Wild Wreck Capitals

The Minnesota scored four times in the opening period to earn a 4-1 victory over the Washington Capitals on Day 60. The loss dropped Washington to 12th in the Wales Conference at 11-19-3.

Willsie started it off for Minnesota from Stillman and Ruutu at 5:58. Blake made it 2-0 from Stillman and Sykota at 15:21, and Klein extended the lead to three goals with his first of the season from Demitra and Roenick at 16:47. Lecavalier completed the first period scoring from Blake and Sykora at 17:59.

After a scoreless second period and 15 minutes of a scoreless final period, Ivan Rachunek finally lit the lamp for the Capitals at 15:04. Dan Boyle and Todd Warriner assisted on the tally.

JS Giguere stopped just 14 shots in the loss and fell to 13-10-4. Kevin Weekes stopped all 16 shots he faced in relief. Ryan Miller made 19 saves to earn the win.

The Capitals are off for two days before hosting Tampa Bay on Day 61.
