Senators Slash Thrash in Nedved's Farewell

The Ottawa Senators were fired up for last night's game against the Atlanta Thrashers. Was it because Nedved was leaving? Because they were excited for the arrival of Justin Kelly? Or was it simply a fire lit under them to succeed after seeing that GM Schmucky is in it to win it?

Regardless of the reasoning behind it, the Sens crushed the Thrashers last night by a score of 5-1. Teemu Selanne was the star of this one as he landed a hat-trick scoring goals in the first, second and third period. Selanne finished with 3 goals, a +3 rating, 3 hits and 4 shots on the night. All around, a superstar style of night for this superstar style of guy.

Brendan Morrison was the second star as he landed 3 points as well. Morrison had 1 goal, 2 assists, a +3 rating and a hit in the game last night. Morrison has recently been discussed in trade talks, so the rumour mill says, but after last night's performance, it looks like he'd be a tough centerman to snag from the Sens at this point in the year.

The third star was Dick Tarnstrom. He had 3 assists and a plus three rating as well as he distributed the puck very well on the Powerplay and played an all around strong game.

Ottawa has the night off before facing the surging Sabres on Wednesday evening.
