Bluejackets send Pratt to Detroit

Columbus, OH

Columbus Blue Jackets General Manager Peter Dell'Olio has announced that the team has sent defenseman Nolan Pratt to the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for a third round draft choice this year, and a second round draft choice in next year's draft. Pratt, who had his playing time cut as the season went on was one of the Jackets best defenders, but with a diminishing divisional position and youth coming along the Jackets decided to continue to free cap space and inject more youth.

The club has also announced that Dan Fritsche may get recalled from his junior loan, but the team has stated that Fritsche will not be rushed. Team officials have stressed that, " if the recall happens, it will be to evaluate Dan's current ability, and to see where he could fit in for Columbus now."

In all likelyhood, Fritsche will claim a permanent spot on the team, but that will leave management with a tough decision on which forwards will lose ice time. Matt Cooke will likely be a healthy scratch until a trade can be found.
