Buffalo Sabres are Skidding

Buffalo – A.P.

What is going on with the Buffalo Sabres? The question many are asking in Buffalo which has spawned General Manager Keith Pierson to be seated in a hot seat with possible eviction from his employment.

Of course why is he under criticism? The answer is simple; the team is losing, and losing badly. They’re currently on a three game skid, which started against the New York Islanders, the best team in the league. That game was shrugged off as all right, the team was better, nothing we can do, and however this was only the beginning as the Sabres started free falling quicker than MC Hammer’s career.

Carolina Hurricanes were next up, a non-playoff team, which has had trouble getting their footing and are currently a sub .500 team. Easy win right? Apparently not as the Buffalo Sabres lost and not only did they lose but they were embarrassed. How were they embarrassed? Well they were winning 3 - 2 with 3 minutes left in the game, smooth sailing now right? Wrong! Hurricanes are on the power play, a major penalty by Trent Hunter forces Hurricanes to have a 5 on 4 advantage the rest of the game and into overtime, so what happens? No it doesn’t go into overtime, in fact Hurricanes score back-to-back goals in under 2 minutes and winning the game. Yeah, good job Trent Hunter, you jackass.

Their most recent lost was against Ottawa Senators, a team right behind Sabres in the standings and inching up to try and dethrone the #2 seed in the Conference, so what happens here? Take a guess… They lose of course, like last game, the Sabres had a lead of 3 – 2 but blew it in the 3rd period allowing Senators to score back to back goals and win the game.

The future road for the Buffalo Sabres looks to be promising as they hope to rebound against the following three teams: New Jersey Devils (20-15-2), Tampa Bay Lightning (14-21-2), and the Montreal Canadians (16-19-3)
