Senators Dethrone Kings

The Ottawa Senators got a huge road win yesterday knocking off the LA Kings by a score of 5-3. The Senators have been playing good hockey this season and after 52 games, are well above .500 with a .548 win percentage.

The Sens horribly outshot the Kings 34 to 22 which shows their utter domination of the L.A. squad. However, it also continues to bring into question the goaltending of Chris Osgood who still allowed 3 goals on only 22 shots.

Pierre-Marc Bouchard was the games 1st star as he notched his 12th of the year in the 3rd period to ensure the victory for the Senators. He also assisted on Ottawa's 3rd goal, scored by Michael Ryder.

Ottawa is currently safely in a playoff spot but, with 30 games to go, anything can happen. The Sens have played more games than any other team in the league at this point, meaning that some teams have as many as 4 games in hand on Ottawa. However, GM Schmucky knows that what is important is winning regardless of what game number you are playing, "as long as we continue to win these extra games, we'll get ourselved into the playoffs. We just cannot afford any more 3-4 game slides that could put us in danger of missing for the 4th straight season."

Ottawa has the night off before hosting the Sabres on Tuesday night.
