Capitals and Bruins Kiss Sisters

The Washington Capitals extended its unbeten run to two games and its winless run to seven games after a 3-3 tie against the Boston Bruins on Day 97. The result moves Washington to 19-28-7.

Boston jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening period when Bill Guerin scored a shorthanded goal.

The Bruins made it 2-0 early in the second period on Kopecky's marker from Meszaros and Hartigan at 4:52. Washington finally got on the board when Severin Blindenbacher netted from Jonathan Cheechoo at 6:57, but Boston regained its two-goal edge less than six minutes later. Makela was the scorer from Hartigan and Kopecky at 12:43.

The Capitals came out flying in the final period and scored twice in the first 7:57 to secure the point. Patrick Marleau struck first from Todd Warriner and Cheechoo at 1:00, before Joffrey Lupul converted from Artem Chubarov and David Vyborny.

JS Giguere stopped 30 shots for Washington. Antero Niittymaki made 22 saves for Boston.

The Capitals host Pittsburgh on Day 99.
