WHAT ABOUT WEBER

Carolina

The Hurricanes have managed to stock pile a plethora of young talent in their system and often guys get forgotten, but young Shea Weber has made it a point this season to not find himself in that void between junior and pro.

"I have tried to take the steps to improve all around," said Weber, "and you hope that you get the opportunity to showcase what you have learned. I think I can play the game at the next level and I think I am more than capable to play it in both ends. This season, I am getting that opportunity."

Weber, 20, was a member of Canada's gold medal winning squad in 2004 in Grand Forks. The powerful defender has often been thought of as an impressive physical presence and is positionally sound. Coaches in Carolina have been excited by Weber’s quick start.

"We have always thought he was a guy we could figure in our future," said Joel Quenneville. "I have had the opportunity to see him play a lot over the past season and I think he has all the tools needed. I have asked that he be played in more situations to see how he handles it. He is a confident kid and I cannot see why he will not come to the fore front."
