four headed monster
Another day dawns on the mighty St Louis Blues and a new player joins the fold. From the start of the season many insiders felt that GM Foley was putting too much pressure on his young center Nicolas Corbeil, and while Corbiel had responded quite favourably to the ice time he was receiving early in the season it was quickly becoming apparent that the calder trophy canadate was quitely become overwealmed by his role. Last night however news broke that would change all of that as the Blues sent young defencemen Cole Jarrett and 2nd line RW Sergei Krivokrasov as well as farm hand Niko Kapanen to the Florida Panthers in exchange for top line center Michal Handzus. The trade paid imedeate dividends today when the Blues hosted the Senators in must win game and came out firing. The Blues peppered the Senators netminder Roman Turek with 35 shots and got 4 past him. The first goal came early in the first 2 minutes after the Senators had opened the scoring when Corbiel started an awesome tic tac toe play with Jan Hrdina finishing it off. Then near the end of the 2nd Richards scored his 12th of the season to put the Blues ahead for good. In the 3rd Michal Handzus scored his 1st as a Blue and 9th on the season which would become the game winner. It only took the Senators 15 secounds to respond to that goal but it was Bobby Holik who would net the insurance goal and the Blues held on to win the game 4-2. This win puts the Blues only one point back of the Stars and Cunnucks for the final playoff spot in the Campbell conference and with a huge tilt tonight against the Bolts the Blues will be looking to keep this streak alive. Reinforcements have also arrived as Martin Erat who was injured by his then teamate Tomas Kloucek in what can only be described as a freak accident will be available to play in todays game as well as Demitri Semin who is expected to play on the Blues 3rd line with Bobby Holik and Ethan Moreau. This will be the first time since GM Foley began cleaning house that the full roster will be available for the game and many fans inticipate a hard fought battle with the Bolts.
