Ottawa ties the Capitals
The Ottawa Senators were annihilated by the Panthers the other night, losing 8-0!! The Sens played a terrible game and Turek looked absolutely exhausted after being pulled in the 1st period.
Last night's game was different, although the after the first period, we were all worried that it may be a repeat of the Florida game.
The Capitals came out flying, outshooting the Senators 17-7 in the first period. Fred Brathwaite stood on his head to keep the score close, but the Caps still pushed two goals past him to lead 2-0 after period one. The Washington goals were scored by Warriner and Renberg.
However, the Sens came out rejuvenated for the 3rd period. They managed to solve their defensive struggles and tied the Caps in shots at 9. at 07:20 of the 2nd, youngster Pierre Marc Bouchard scored his 8th of the season, assisted by Poti and Petrasek, to bring Ottawa to within one goal.
The third period was another close one as the Sens had 7 shots to the Capitals 6. That one extra shot seemed to make the difference as the Senators tied the game on a goal by Teemu Selanne, assisted by Morrison and Ryder. Teemu's 17th goal of the season held strong as the buzzer went for the 3rd period to finish and the score was tied at 2.
Overtime belonged to Ottawa as they held the Caps to just one shot but could not score. The Sens have 3 days off before taking on the Oilers in a GM battle of brothers!! GO SENS!
