Capitals Fall to Flyers
The Washington Capitals couldn't manage a single goal on Day 138 in a 1-0 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. Despite the setback, Washington remained in a tie for seventh in the Wales Conference on 71 points.
After two scoreless periods that saw Washington outshoot Philadelphia 18-13, the Flyers finally broke the deadlock at 8:02 of the final stanza. Berg was the scorer from Lapointe and Ryn. The Capitals ratcheted up the pressure after falling behind, but despite firing 10 shots on goal in the third, Washington was not able to tie the game.
Manny Legace made 22 saves in the loss and fell to 24-24-8. Chris Osgood stopped all 28 shots he faced to earn the win and improve to 21-22-3.
The Capitals return to the ice on Day 140 in Ottawa.
