Devil Pitchforks Alfredsson

The look of shock, pain and surprise on Daniel Alfredsson's face was enough to tell the tale. A moment later he lay crumpled on the ice writhing in pain while chaos exploded around him and a clearly pleased Robin Regehr skated away.

Alfredsson had just begun to exit the Devils zone and was nowhere near the play when Devil penalty minute leader Robin Regehr skated up and speared him in the groin. Alfredsson was taken off the ice on a stretcher after about 15 minutes as the medics could not get him to let go of his testicles. He is out 2 - 3 weeks with a groin injury.

The Rangers spent the rest of the game trying to exact revenge on Regehr or any other Devil player and were so distracted that the fogot there was an acutal hockey game to play and the Devils piled up 6 goals on them. The Rangers managed only two but all talk after the game from the Rangers was directed at Regehr and the incident.

"That was one of the dirtiest spears I've ever seen," seethed team captain JP Dumont. "That 's a calculated move. He's a key player and we might meet the Devils in the playoffs. If Alfies not there that hurts, but not as much as I'm going to hurt Regehr when next we meet."

"A HEINOUS ACT!!" screamed GM Burns through a cell phone on his way home from prison for his part in instigating a continent wide riot. "We will maim and destroy every Devil player next we meet! MARK MY WORDS!"
