Oilers have Playoff Game Faces on

In typical Edmonton Fashion, The Oilers are one of those teams that remain in contention for that final playoff spot. With 11 games remaining this season the Oilers are just 5 pts shy of the 8th and final playoff seed in the Campbell conference and based on what we overheard at their morning practice today they have stepped it up a notch and are playing as if they already are in the Playoffs. What does this mean? Players like Allison, Kariya, Frolov & Aucoin will be expected to play longer and harder while the lower end of the bench will be shortened and see players like Hoglund, Classen, Reasoner, Antipov, Harvey and some others take on more limited 'energy' roles on the team. All stops have been pulled out and the Oilers are making what they call a very serious run at the playoffs. Primeau who recently suffered an injury has been sent to a special medical center for sport injuries in Washington, The cost $300,000 to send him there is a small price to pay if they can get him back into the lineup at the most crucial part of the season the Final 10 games. In their path to a playoff spot they will play some of the best teams in the league including 3 games against the 1st seed in the Campbell (2nd overall) Nashville Predators. The Oilers are confident that in typical Edmonton Oiler fashion they will capture that 8th and final Playoff spot and look forward to meeting the Predators in the 1st Round. The biggest question the Coaching Staff has is who to put in Net, By the Goaltender Games Played Restrictions Khabibulin has 8 games he can potentially play out of the remaining 11 however Backup Ty Conklin has put up better number the Khabibulin all season long and has been reported as being highly under-rated for his skill level that he has shown, So watch out for Conklin/Bulin to Maybe split the remainder of the games.
