Junior Capitals Tie St. Louis
Brad Topping made 32 saves to lead the Washington Junior Capitals to a 1-1 tie against the St. Louis Junior Blues on Day 136. The result moved Washington to 28-31-10, six points out of the final playoff spot in the Wales Conference.
After a scoreless first period that saw the Blues outshoot Washington 10-4, Mikhail Kuleshov gave the Caps the lead early in the middle stanza. The goal, Kuleshov's 15th of the season, came shorthanded from Patrick O'Sullivan and Matthew Hansen at 5:57. St. Louis turned up the heat after falling behind, and Black tied things up less than two minutes later. Bergeron assisted on the goal.
Washington finally came out flying in the final period and overtime, but despite outshooting the Blues 18-7 over the 25 minutes, the club couldn't score the winning goal.
Topping improved to 14-22-6 with the result. Joni Puurula stopped 30 shots for St. Louis to move to 27-17-6.
The Junior Capitals return to action on Day 139 against the Junior Islanders.
