The Boston Bruins Season Forecast - Pierre-Luc Edmond
This twenty-four year old center earned the call from Providence based on his strong play (14-26-40) on a terrible team. With three power play goals and one game winner, he also showed the promise of a guy who could come throw when he should.
That being said, with the parent club, he faces a log jam at his position. Management is looking into whether he can be moved, but it is unlikely he would find significantly more playing time at another forward position. The Bruins have an overwhelming amount of marginal talent at the back end of their depth chart, which is the challenge Edmond will face.
Edmond will play the season with the junior varsity squad, likely as the second or third center. The team is hoping some additional seasoning will aid development of his passing and ability to control the puck, but the best method for that will be in-game action. What PL does have going for him is a strong defensive work ethic, which will serve him well under GM Joshua Anderson, who likes two-way centers.
Don't look for much this year. As he is under a two year deal, expect this to be a pair of trial runs, with a strong showing and development necessary to earn a contract extension. Center is the deepest spot on the Bruins' roster, so barring a string of broken ankles, he will not see NHL ice this season.
Prediction - 0 games played; 0-0-0
