BRADLEY STARTING TO SHOW WORTH
A future power forward for the Canes, Matt Bradley has shown some flashes of what is to come.
Bradley, 27, is a ferocious open ice hitter who is strong and willing to get physically involved. This preseason, however, he has shown a bit of what the Canes expect of him in the future.
"He is rugged, he is mean and he plays with an edge," said head coach Joel Quenneville. "We will not be depending on him as much this year with our right side being so strong, but he has a solid future with this organization. We locked him up for 4 years and the hope is he will mature into that second line winger that can cause matchup troubles for the opposition. He is pretty good at everything he does, he just needs time to develop all his tools."
Bradley leads the club with 7 points and has shown a bit of chemistry with center Trevor Letowski.
"I just want to get in there and shown what I can do," said Bradley. "This season I think I am set to be a fourth line energy type of guy, and that is fine, but I hope I can find some more ice time. I think I can produce at this level and maybe this preseason can give an indication to the team I have what it takes. We will see though."
The Canes rookie defenseman Tomas Mojzis, one of the top offensive defensemen in junior last year, was injured in a game against the St Louis Blues. Mojzis was blind sided in an unprovoked vicious hit by Dan Hamhuis, and is said to be out indefinitely. The league currently has the video of the incident and will likely take appropriate action.
