Much ado about nothing
Ah...the signs of a new season starting. You know, the last few teams scrambling to get themselves back under the salary cap usually because of fiscal mismanagement, which tends to lead to a selling off of talent for some crap player or even worse, cash. Then there is the familiar sound of chat windows popping up with messages saying "i need 3C 5D 2RW 5LW 2G to get myself out of roster violations, and thats just my pro team!!" , which then leads to the team trading away quality picks, young players or stars for 10 stiff bodies that on the best of days, couldn't crack the 4th line of the Ducks franchise.
But it gets better, kind of like that smell of a popcorn bag in the microwave when its 80% finished....you cant wait for the last 20 seconds for the timer to end. You get overly excited, about popcorn you havent even ate yet. The same could be said about preseason. Teams getting overly optimistic over a teams 3-1 start, or how a certain player has come out of no where to score a ton. The same could be said about the other end of the spectrum, with teams who have 1-3 starts and are cursing this or that about their players and teams. But lest we forget, the season hasnt started yet. This period, for whatever its worth, is just the "smell" and "sounds" of the popping corn, but until you actually "taste" it, its all in your mind. Its not real.
Some could say that these are typical symptoms to an overly long and unpleasant offseason and that these emotional preseason blogs are the effects of this. Why then havent you seen the Leafs team come out with flags waving and parade routes being planned for their Pro AND Jr team's 3-1 start? There are still kernals to be popped people. Until then, its meaningless to be commenting about how good the popcorn really is.
Need some proof? Just ask any Toronto Raptor fan how their team is doing now after their record setting winning preseason record. Actually, maybe you shouldnt since their response might not be so nice. If you do, just offer them some of your popcorn. Im sure they will understand.
