Canucks pick in draft

The Vancouver Canucks are pleased to announce the drafting of Peter Olvechy a 6 ft 2 in lw out of slovakia. He has a large frame and hopefully will add about 25 lbs over the next few years
In 2003-04 Olvecky made the jump from the Slovakian Junior league, where he was almost a point per game, to the senior squad where he failed to register a single point.Olvecky is a hard working grinder who digs up pucks in the offensive zone and creates opportunities for his linemates. He is also responsible in his own end. A scout for the Canucks who also lives in Trencin, tipped the Canucks off to Olvecky this year and they made a point of seeing him play in an under-18 tournament in Russia.
