Flyers Win Two in a Row
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – The Flyers have finally put a winning streak together this young season with the latest 4-1 win over the Chicago BlackHawks.
Brad Leeb opened the scoring with a shorthanded marker early in the first. Jamie Lundmark also got his first goal of the season and Jay Harrison also continued his hot hand scoring his 4th goal in his last four games.
This was the Flyers most complete game of the season so far playing well for a full 60 minutes and out shooting the Hawks 32 to 23. The shutout bid for Andrew Raycroft was cut short late in the second period with 56 seconds left the Hawks netted their first and only goal off the stick of Bobby Russell. Raycroft stopped 22 of 23 shots earning him the games first star honors.
A side note from the game Jay Harrison has been suspended for 3 games following a vicious beating on BlackHawks defenseman Todd Simpson just 5 seconds after Harrison scored his goal. As for a replacement, next game the Flyers will be dressing Jim Vandermeer in place of the suspended Harrison. This will add more grit to the lineup and should help the team stir up some emotion with the home crowd.
The Flyers will be looking to make it 3 in a row as they face the BlackHawks tomorrow night in Philadelphia.
